Second Grade Innocence

I decided to share a funny story about me (true story I might add)

The sun was shining and the day was great! It was an average day in second grade and I was the usual happy go lucky student. I loved going to school and was by far the teacher's pet. I was able to do anything I wanted whenever I wanted. Well things can change in a second and let me tell you, it did. It was lunch time about 11 in the morning. Lunch was over and kids were at recess, well at least most kids were. Me and my best friend Chelsi did not want to play at recess and instead wanted to play on the chalkboard. The dusty smell of chalk lingered in the air as chaos was about to arise. We had done nothing wrong and were innocently drawing pictures on the board. Suddenly, the phone rang and my teacher, Mrs. Gunnell, decides to run from out in the hall to the phone. I had set down the chalk and was leaning against my desk. As my teacher came running through the room she tripped on my foot and collapsed on the ground. I rushed over to her and found that she was laying in distress limp and helpless. She got out between painful breaths to call 911 and get a teacher. Chelsi ran to get a teacher while I, being panicked, called 911. I was only seven years old calling 911 because I had tripped my teacher, how was I going to explain this?! I did not know what to do for my teacher she was crying and I felt so helpless. Kids started to surround the classroom looking at me as if I was some terrible person. I could hear the sirens slowly approaching getting louder and louder and looked out the window to see an ambulance. I felt so bad for doing this to my favorite teacher. The medical workers carried her out on a stretcher and I watched them drive away, I felt so sad! I felt the teardrops streaming down my face and hit my lips.. I was later able to go see her in the hospital. I will never forget this day as it was a very traumatic day for a seven year old, although looking back on it I find it hilarious because me and my second grade teacher became closer than ever and continue to keep in touch reminding each other of this story upon occasion!

Oh and by the way I broke her collar bone and several ribs! Haha I know not funny right but what is funny is the fact that she still talks to me :) !

You should have added that you now want to be a second grade teacher! Then all reading would see how warped your sense of humor really is!!! JK, not, you are a sweetie and I will never forget how distressed you were and how much you loved Mrs. Gunnell. Remember we sent her daisies, great big white and yellow one.
