August 13th is a new favorite day for me…not only because 13 is my favorite number but because 2 years ago it was the perfect day! I don’t think I have ever written about how Jake gave me a promise ring so here it goes:
We left around 3 Friday afternoon to Island Park. While driving he kept asking me if I was bored and wanted to work on something and I said nahh I can just look out the window. Well he kept asking so I was like sure what the heck. So Jake pulled over the car on the freeway and got in the trunk. He had me look the other way and then turn around. He had bought me the scriptures with my name on the front of it. It meant the world to me that he had spent the time to do that for me! Then he said the weekend will only get better and we took off. We got to the Mill Play and got dinner. After dinner we watched the Grand Ol' Opery which was way funny. Then we headed to the cabin and hung out with Grandpa Barclay, Josh, and Brenton. It was time for bed and Jacob told me he wanted to watch the sun rise and that we should get up about 5:40. At 5:15 I was woken up by Jake telling me to hurry up or we would miss the sunrise. We drove to the top of Sawtell mountain and right when we got there the sun popped over the mountain. It was so pretty. I was playing with my camera taking these pictures…
and Jake said Kode look over here and I did and there he was holding a ring. He said “Kode I hope you can give me the chance to do this again and this promise ring is for you to always know I love you.” I just kinda stared for a few minutes until he looked confused and I realized that I still needed to say something back.
Then we got breakfast at Subway and took it back to Brenton and Josh. Grandpa went home and me and the 3 boys got our swim suits on to go fly fishing. We did that for awhile and I ended up catching a little minnow (because Jake couldn’t catch anything). Then we headed back, changed, and took a 4 wheeler ride. On our way we saw a brown bear with its baby cub so we called up Josh and Brenton and told them to hurry and bring us the car. They did and we didn't see it anymore so we decided to go on a 4-wheeler ride anyways so we headed out and went on the trail. We drove by a lake and on the way back we saw the bears again, and they were way close to us. It was way cool. We then went out to our tree that we had carved earlier and added a date…the yellow part is the part we added…
on the way out there I broke my flip flops carrying Jake through the mud. Jake also cut his finger carving our tree!
We headed back to the cabin and got ready to go to the Play Mill again which was Home School Musical. It was hilarious and we loved it. Then we went to Hungary Bear supermarket, loaded up on junk food, and headed back to the cabin to eat it. Then we all went to bed. We woke up at 6:30 and Jake made us breakfast. Then we went to sacrament and cleaned the cabin and headed out. When we got back Jake told his parents about the promise ring and I told my mom. It was THE PERFECT WEEKEND!
So there you have it…the second part to “our” story!
I can't imagine life without Jake he has seriously made me the happiest girl in the world and I love him. I think he is amazing and more than worth the wait!
