Our honeymoon was so much fun! Jake took me on a Western Caribbean cruise! Our wedding day was insane with the wedding and reception both in the same day, plus driving to our hotel in Salt Lake that night. On the way to Salt Lake, right before we pulled into our hotel, we get pulled over by a cop and both suddenly freak out because we had realized that we were pretty sure we left Jake’s wallet with his ID in it back at home. He needed his ID for the airport so this was a problem! We told the cop we just got married and he let us go with a warning and some miraculous way we found his wallet in the end pocket of the suitcase but nonetheless it worried us. To make things better I had a sore throat from talking all day. So Jake went to a gas station and stocked me up on some cold medicine for the next day!
Day 1: We had to get up and catch our flight by 7 the next morning so we woke up at 5:00 and rushed to the airport. We made it in plenty of time and actually ran into some neighbors from home on our flight! We had some fun on our flight there entertaining ourselves with the people sitting around us :) Once we got to Florida we got our rental car and left the airport to find out our rental car was falling apart and we had to drive several hours the next day to the cruise port so we took it back and they upgraded us to a Mini Cooper which was so fun! We decided to take the scenic route to our hotel even though it was dark because it was right along the ocean. We stopped once to walk the beach a little which was so peaceful!
Day 2: We took the Mini Cooper up the coast line to our cruise port. Once we got there we rode a shuttle bus to the actual port and went through all of the procedures until finally…we were there! The water was amazingly blue already and our room had a balcony!! We swam and explored the ship. Our ship was seriously incredible. I had never been on a cruise so it blew me away how much it had on it. We went with Royal Caribbean and they were wonderful.
Day 3: We cruised all day today so all of the pictures were taken on the ship. We laid out in the sun for awhile, swam, and sat in the hot tub. We ate ice cream everyday multiple times because they had it on the floor with the swimming pool and it was delicious. They did two formal nights while we were there and this was one of them. We decided to go watch a play which was great and so we got dressed up, ate their amazing all you can eat dinner (which is probably why we both gained a million pounds), and went to the play. When we got back our room service guy (who was hilarious and really good at making animals out of our towels) made us a bat using my sun glasses that were on the bed. Then to end the night we grabbed some pizza, carried our couch out to our balcony, and Jake won the best husband award by giving me a foot massage while we listened to the waves which were pretty big that night.
Day 4: Our first stop was in Haiti. It was gorgeous!! We got to do an excursion here and went kayaking in the ocean across to the poor area which was so humbling. It was a neat experience being on the island with island music and our tour guide was an islander which made it all really neat. That evening they had a few Disney characters on the ship as well.
Day 5: This was my favorite day. We were in Jamaica this day and got to zip line through the jungle and climb a waterfall. The sad thing about it though is we had our Go Pro filming it all because it was waterproof and could stick to our helmets and somewhere along the way we lost our memory card with all of the pictures and videos of a lot of our adventure tours from our cruise so that is sad! We got off the ship and they escorted us to our designated areas. We got on a bus an then drove about an hour to the zip lining place. We had to get all suited up and there were these huge disgusting spiders hanging in all of the trees! We got to zip line down like 9 different areas all the way to the bottom. It was so pretty! We then took the bus to the water fall and got in our swim suits and got to start from the bottom of the water fall and link hands with everyone in a big line and all climb up this huge waterfall. We have no pictures of it because we were wet but our Go Pro had all of the footage…maybe one day our memory card will show up! When we got back our room service man had made us a turtle! We then decided to go watch an ice skating show which was awesome!
This was the only picture we have from the waterfall!
Day 6: On this day we were at Grand Cayman and got to go jeeping and snorkeling. Once again our pictures are mainly on the Go Pro :( We did luckily take some pictures with a camera. We got to jeep around the island and then they dropped us off at a beach where we got to snorkel. This scared me to go too deep but it was sooo cool! I was amazed at how salty the ocean really was haha! We tried our lifting trick by these jagged rocks that they call “Hells” attraction and ended up biffing it! It was hilarious though and we finally got it after the fall. That night was the formal night on the ship as well. We got all dressed up and then went to dinner and shopped around on the cruise!
Day 7: We were in Cozumel, Mexico today and it was by far the hottest day EVER! We went to see the Tulum Mayan Ruins. They were simply amazing! We got to wait in an orientation thing for awhile which is when Jake got silly but after that they took us on this little boat across part of the ocean to the island. The water was amazingly blue and I could not get over how gorgeous it was. Mexico had by far the bluest water! We had a tour guide with head phones the whole time which was really nice. There were iguanas everywhere! We got to go through some of the shops and experience some of the culture. We also ended up having to walk a couple miles to the ship. We found a cool fruit on the way and Jake cracked it open and we tasted it. I am not sure it was ripe because it was not too good! When we got back on the ship we went swimming which felt so good after sweating all day. Then we dried ourselves off by walking around the top part of the ship. Jake tied his towel around his head and we got some funny looks. Then we went to an acrobat show which was awesome! It was such a pretty night too!
Day 8: We had to get off of the ship today which was sad! I kept telling Jake how said I was that we never saw a turtle on any beach when all of a sudden we almost hit one in the road on our way back towards the airport. We both jumped out and chased it down and got to hold it! I was soo happy! We got to our hotel and went swimming where Jake wore his “special” swimming shorts. Then we went to Red Lobster for dinner and just relaxed. We both had “sea legs” a little bit from being on the boat. We saw this lady at Red Lobster with massive long nails so that was awesome. Jake of course asked her if we could take a picture and she was so proud of them! We then went to see the temple there which was beautiful.
Day 10: We did not have to catch our flight today until 4pm but our rental car was up at 8 so we spent our day at the airport. We created a lot of different games to entertain ourselves. It was a blast and the time actually went by really quickly. We were so sad to get on the plane and head back to real life though. We had such a blast and enjoyed our long awaited honeymoon so much! On the way home we got to see the coolest lightning storm which we recorded. You could actually see the lightning in the clouds but it was beneath us. It was really the coolest thing! We got to Salt Lake at midnight and home at 3am. We were so tired by the time we got home and had to catch up on sleep for the next week. Our honeymoon and cruise were the greatest start to our marriage!!
