We decided we needed to take our 5th wheel home a little early to prevent an extra month of paying and to avoid the snow. Because of that, we got to live in a hotel for a week! It was a blast with swimming, free breakfast, and movie nights!
After our finals were over on Tuesday, since we didn’t have to take home our 5th wheel, we decided to spend the rest of the week at Island Park for my birthday! We got up there late Tuesday night and there was so much ice on the road that we got stuck in the driveway to the cabin. Jake had just previously told me scary stories of people in the woods and then we got stuck and had to shovel our way out for a half hour. We finally made it and after Jake checked every room in the cabin for strangers, we went to bed. We spent the week relaxing and Jake still had a couple online tests to take. One of the days we went to West Yellowstone and found a new place with bears and wolves. We went for some drives around the big cabin subdivisions.
I got to open my presents early because Jake said I would need to use them so I opened one the night before my birthday and they were snow boots so we went on a snowmobile ride to break them in. Before you can open a present though Jake’s family has a tradition called “Heavy Heavy Hangover” and they sing a little poem and hit your head with the present. I thought it was so weird when I first met him but now it doesn’t feel like a birthday without it! The next day I got to open the other presents and Jake always gets me a couple lottery tickets just for fun and I got $90 on one of them so we went on a snowmobile ride to the gas station. We got a sled and pulled each other around for awhile. We stopped and went to church on the way home. It was such a relaxing way to end the semester..and for me to graduate!
When we got home my family spoiled me with another birthday party. We had cake, presents, and ice cream. I’m so blessed to have such a wonderful family and husband!
